One of our friends recently came to us:
“I don't know what to do anymore. I've been having mood swings, growing lots of pimples, no periods and keep gaining weight! I've worked out, put on face masks and nothing worked. So I decided to go to the doctors. After a few tests, the doctor told me I have PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome)."
🧠 Did You Know?
That 1 out of 10 women aged 19-45 are diagnosed with PCOS and more than 70% of them don't know they have PCOS? This sparked our interest to understand more about what this hormonal disorder is
PCOS: What Are The Symptoms?
If you have been asking yourself these questions, then you might be suffering from PCOS:
-
Why am I missing out on periods or having irregular periods?
-
Why am I growing more hair on my upper lip, jaw, chest, back, stomach and legs?
-
Why is my voice getting deeper?
-
Why am I gaining weight?
-
Why am I so moody?
-
Why am I growing acne at mid-late twenties?!
What Causes PCOS?
-
It's a disease that affects your hormonal balance and increases the level of androgens (male-hormones). You already have androgen in your body, but the imbalance could cause PCOS.
-
It could be genetically inherited but also caused by genetic mutation.
😳 What Are The Potential Risks?
-
Increase in androgen (male-hormone) prevents the ovaries from releasing eggs during menstrual cycle
-
The cysts that grow in your ovaries will make it harder to release eggs & make it harder for your to conceive
😵 What other health problems PCOS is linked to?
-
Diabetes
-
High Blood Pressure
-
Unhealthy Cholesterol
-
Sleep Apnea
-
Depression and Anxiety
-
Endometrial Cancer
If you have any of the the above health problems, be alert to any PCOS symptoms as well.

But, it can be controlled.
PCOS is highly related to inflammation in your body. The more inflamed your body is, the more severe the PCOS symptoms could be. So, understand your body first, learn what your body can take in and what it cannot. The healthier and smarter you eat for your body, the better you are equipped to fight PCOS!
